The export-oriented economy of our city in 2008 has maintained a good development trend. The city's total import and export volume has exceeded 1.2 billion U.S. dollars for the first time, amounting to 1,278,500,000 U.S. dollars, rising 40% from the corresponding period.

It is reported that in 2008 the international containers declared in the local customs at Ganzhou has reached 9027 TEUs, rising 47.3% from the corresponding period. Ganzhou Customs has completed the foreign-related tax revenues of a total of 508,730,000 yuan, increasing revenues 113,260,000 yuan year on year, up 28.64 % year on year; the city has transacted back (free) tax 433 million yuan, up 25.78% year on year, having effectively promoted the development of export-oriented economy in our city.

In the background of the spread of international financial crisis, the city strengthened the construction of port infrastructure to serve the export-oriented economy.

In year of 2008, on the foundation of the successful opening of Ganzhou-Xiamen and Ganzhou-Shenzhen International Container "Railway-Marine Combined Transport", an international container transaction of Longnan-Yantian Port, Shenzhen was opened as well so as to let foreign trade enterprises in Longnan County and its surrounding areas enjoy the same convenient customs clearance with the ones in coastal ports.

Cultivating the port intermediary organizations has also made marked progress; the powerful China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO) had set up an agency last year in our city and then began to conduct business. Port service function has been continuously improving, having effectively reduced the costs of import and export enterprises. The logistics costs of import and export enterprises have reduced 1 / 3, having formed a pattern of road and rail transports complementing each other and competing with each other.
