Recently, Wei Xiaolong, a retired teacher in Longnan County, took a trip to Liyuan Fort in Liren Town with the whole family. They not only visited the buildings combining with the features of southern Chinese riverside countryside and Hakka forts, but also experienced the farming life of Hakkas.

In the recent years, Longnan actively develops theme villages with distinctive characteristics and forms many village tourism lines to attract a large number of tourists.

This year, the county has accepted tourists 289,000 person times, with the income of 130 million yuan.

On the principle of "passing on history and culture, revealing natural landscape and equalizing the ecology and culture" in the countryside construction, Longnan focuses on exploring the culture in the villages with forts.

Around Hakka forts, farming culture and rural landscape, the county creates the brand of "New Taste in Old Village" to develop village tourism vigorously.

According to the planning of "one attraction in one village", it focuses on the Hakka forts cultural tourism besides the development of fruit picking, fishing and some other traditional tourism projects.

At present, the Yangwu Field near Guanxi New Fort is designed to be an ecological experience park of Hakka farming culture, Fozai Fort to be a culture park in the period of production team, Shaba Fort to be a fort culture museum, Yuzaitan Fort to be a Hakka fort hotel. Aibei Fort takes farming culture as the main theme and Liyuan Fort integrates culture, architecture, and natural landscape.

The county integrates resources and lines up the theme villages. By developing two major tourism lines of "Long-Guan Line" and "Heng-Huang Line", some village tourism lines such as "Guanxi New Fort - Yuzaitan Fort - Aibei Fort - Liyuan Fort" and "Changxing Fort - Yong'an Fort - Shangmashi Fort", etc. are also formed.
